March 6 - 8, 2015 - Remembering Sheridan's 1865 Raid on Scottsville, Virginia

The Scottsville Museum is sponsoring events commemorating the 150th anniversary of Union Maj. Gen. Philip Sheridan’s Civil War raid through central Virginia. Events include: A new Civil War exhibit in the Scottsville Museum; presentations on Sheridan’s Raid (4:00 p.m. March 7 at Victory Hall, 401 Valley St.), the James River & Kanawha Canal, and the Scottsville African American Community; and a living history encampment. The Virginia Civil War History Mobile Museum will be parked nearby (on March 6 and 7 at the Village Square Shopping Center), and tour maps of local sites related to the 1865 raid will be provided all visitors.
