Constitution Day Celebration at Montpelier

Saturday, Sept. 17 – MONTPELIER hosts its annual Constitution Day Celebration. Celebrate the anniversary of the U.S. Constitution with family and friends on the historic grounds of Montpelier! Free admission to the house between 9:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., and free hands-on history activities around the grounds. Free "Montpelier's Enslaved Community" walking tours offered at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Active archaeological dig sites, the archaeology lab, and the Gilmore Cabin all will be open and free to the public all day. The award-winning Barbeque Exchange will be offering an Edna Lewis-inspired buffet lunch from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for $15 per person; enjoy live music while you eat. Early Mountain Vineyards, Devil's Backbone Brewing Company, and Albemarle Cider will be on site to offer tastings, and their products will be available for purchase.
